What to Expect from Therapy

Most people come to counselling motivated by some internal or external factor that has made staying the same feel more painful than the prospect of change.

An Initial Conversation

We begin with an informal conversation to understand what has brought you here and what you hope to gain. There is no pressure and no commitment required.

Working Together

I work with individuals and family members to explore experiences, feelings, and patterns in a safe, non-judgemental space. Every session is led by you.

Your Pace, Your Timeline

The therapy process can be as long or as short as you need it to be. Some people benefit from a focused short-term approach; others find longer-term work more helpful.

What Happens in Our Sessions

Your First Session

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length, held in a private space where you can feel safe. When we begin our work together, I'll ask you to bring any questions or concerns you have about the therapy process.

Our first session is more like a consultation. Meeting in person is the way we can tell if you feel comfortable with me and if we will make a good match for therapeutic work together.

A Holistic Approach

Where appropriate, I draw on complementary adjunctive resources — including readings, films, exercise, and nutrition — to support your progress between sessions. When medication may be beneficial, referrals are discussed openly and without judgment.

I also maintain collaborative relationships with medical doctors and other practitioners, and will refer you to the most appropriate professional whenever that serves your wellbeing.

What I Work With

I support clients across a wide range of concerns. You do not need to have a diagnosis to benefit from therapy.
